Product Specification
Mooring Tails or mooring Connections are special-length ropes that introduce elasticity in a high Modulus (low stretch) mooring & towing line, providing safer operations. Tails or pennants will provide additional elasticity to the wire. |
Their primary use is to give elasticity in a low stretch line (High Modulus Synthetic Rope or Wire Rope) which reduces the dynamic loads and extends the service life. |
Tails will also distribute the loadings more evenly among the various mooring lines. Grommet construction to give higher breaking strength on request. The eyes of Grommet tails are formed by lashings. (seizing the two rope ends together to form an eye). Our Mooring Tails are highly suitable for use in Mooring, STS & Towing operations. Tails are manufactured according to the latest regulations and recommendations of OCIMF, MEG4 for the safe mooring of tankers, LNG, and LPG vessels. |
Our Tails are also recommended for use in Cruise Ships, Bulk Carriers, and container Ships. The standard tail length for tankers, LNG, and LPG vessels is 11m or 22m. |
Tail has eye splice at both ends, with standard lengths of 1,8m (6ft) and 0,9m (3ft) length. Mooring tails are available in Nylon, Polyester, and PP/Pes combination. |
Frequently Asked Questions:
Frequently Asked Questions:
1) Put a whipping on the multi plait about 12X the diameter of the rope from the end
2) Break the heat-sealed ends. 3) 2 pairs are twisted clockwise and two are twisted anti-clockwise 4) Form the eye laying one blue and one yellow pair on the lower side and the other blue and yellow on the upper side. 5) Now you can proceed with splicing. 6) Turn the rope over to 180 degrees. 7) Tuck the yellow pair (closest to the eye) under the closest pair in the rope, Then tuck the blue pair ( furthest from the eye ) under the next pair down in the rope. 8) Once Four pairs have been tucked once, Now it is simply a matter of plaiting the strands following the natural path under the next pair down in the rope. 9) Run them along their natural course, and tuck them under the first pair they come to. 10) Now turn the splice/eye over 180 degrees and do exactly the same as Steps 7 – 9 a further three times. 11)Now take the tape off all strands. Twist each pair together with the lay and tape up at the base of the strands using electrical tape the same colour as the rope. Cut each pair in the centre of the tape. 12) Superglue the ends and edges of the tape to prevent unravelling and close up all the closed ends. |
Mooring ropes are made with synthetic fibres which are extremely lightweight and have a high elasticity |
